Portsmouth striker John Marquis has had a settled start to life at Fratton Park so far, having made 12 appearances in the league for Pompey and having netted two goals so far for Kenny Jackett's side after his move from Doncaster.

The second of Marquis' goals this season in the blue shirt of Portsmouth came against Lincoln City as the 27 year-old bundled in from virtually on the goal line after Christian Burgess' powerful header from a free-kick had been kept out.

Here, we take a look at Marquis' season so far as the former Doncaster forward continues to settle in to life on the south coast...

Marquis has netted two goals so far this season, which is probably quite underwhelming for a striker of his ilk.

However, it was more the centre forward's all-round game that has impressed the most on the south coast as he's tried to settle in at Fratton Park.

Marquis hasn't been too nervous to run the channels for his Portsmouth side, and his runs into space out wide to make himself an outlet have proved to be key as he has received the ball over the top and then picked out 17 accurate crosses into the box for his Portsmouth team-mates to go and attack.

Being 6'1", Marquis has used his height and strength to his advantage, managing to draw 28 fouls from the opposition defence as his positional sense and ability to hold the ball up have seen him win free-kick after free-kick for his team so far this season.

As well as being good outside the box, Marquis has also proved to be a threat within it, having 25 shots on target as he's been looking to add more goals for his side.

The forward has also had 34 touches inside the area as his dominant and physical presence at the top end of the pitch has unsettled opposition defences.

Despite the ball not falling right for Marquis to put it in the net so far this season, his all-round play has been more than impressive and warrants him to keep his spot as the main Portsmouth No.9 striker.
